How do I change the lighting in a photo?

Open Relight in the Image Utilities part of the PixeLift web app and upload your photo. Relight gives it soft, natural-looking light and a little more depth in one step, without settings. For a particular look, such as light from the left, choose Edit on the result and describe it.

  1. Sign in to PixeLift and open Image Utilities in the dashboard.
  2. Choose Relight, Move Camera or Zoom and upload your photo.
  3. Generate the result, compare it with the Before / After button, then save or share it.

Relight

Relights the photo with soft, natural-looking light and a bit more depth, and tidies up the background. It helps with photos taken in flat or dim light.

It works in one step, without settings. For a specific change, use Edit and describe it, for example "light from the left".

Move Camera

Shows the scene from a new camera viewpoint.

The parts of the scene that come into view are made up by the AI. Don't use it where a picture has to show the real place, such as a property listing or an insurance claim, without saying that it was edited.

Zoom

Zooms in on the main subject for a closer, tighter shot, as if you had stepped nearer.

Can I change the result afterwards?

Yes. Every result in the web app has an Edit option. Choose it, type what you want changed, such as "make the background white" or "add more brightness", and PixeLift makes a new version from the result.

More questions

Can Relight fix a photo that is too dark?

It can brighten the photo and soften the light. A very dark, grainy photo may still look grainy afterwards.

Will Relight change faces or colors?

It is told to relight the photo naturally, but the AI redraws the picture to do it, so skin tones and small details can shift a little. Compare the result with the original using the Before / After button.

Can I relight a product photo?

Yes. Relight works on any photo and is a quick fix for product shots taken in flat or dim light. For a whole new scene around the product, use Product Photo.

Can I zoom in on a particular thing in the photo?

Zoom moves in on the main subject on its own; the tool doesn't let you pick another part of the photo. You can try describing it with Edit instead, for example "zoom in on the dog".

Using the tools needs credits or a plan: see pricing. The rules for what you may edit are in the Acceptable Use Policy.

Try it on your own photo
