Magic Remove

Remove Unwanted Objects from a Photo

Remove Object takes things you don't want out of a photo. You don't paint over anything: you type what should go, and the AI removes it and fills the space with what would plausibly be behind it.

How do I remove an object or a person from a photo?

Open Remove Object in the Magic Remove part of the PixeLift web app, upload the photo and type what should go, such as "the person in the background". The AI takes it out and fills the space with what would plausibly be behind it. Check the result at full size before you use it.

  1. Sign in to PixeLift and open Magic Remove in the dashboard.
  2. Choose Remove Object and upload your photo.
  3. Type what you want removed, for example "the person in the background".
  4. Generate the result, check it with the Before / After button, then save or share it.

How should I describe what to remove?

Name the thing and say where it is: "the red car on the left" works better than "the car", and "the man in the blue shirt behind her" better than "people".

If the first result misses something or takes away too much, run it again with a more specific description.

Which objects remove cleanly?

  • Easiest: small things against a simple background, such as a bin on a lawn, a sign against the sky or a stranger in front of a plain wall.
  • Harder: large objects, objects in front of or touching the main subject, and busy repeating patterns like tiles or fences, where the filled area can look smudged.
  • For words and captions, Remove Text is the better tool.

Can I change the result afterwards?

Yes. Every result in the web app has an Edit option. Choose it, type what you want changed, such as "make the background white" or "add more brightness", and PixeLift makes a new version from the result.

Use it honestly

Only edit pictures you own or have the right to edit. Don't use Remove Object to take watermarks or logos off other people's images, or to make a photo mislead people about what really happened. The Acceptable Use Policy has the full rules.

More questions

Can I remove more than one thing at once?

Yes. Name each one in your description, for example "the two people on the left and the bin". If one is missed, choose Edit on the result and ask for it to be removed too.

Why did something new appear where the object was?

The AI fills the gap with what it expects to see there, and now and then that is a new object or person. Run it again with a more specific description, or choose Edit and say what should be there instead, such as "empty grass".

Can it remove a watermark?

Removing someone else's watermark isn't allowed under the Acceptable Use Policy. For text on your own photos, such as a date stamp, use Remove Text.

Will people be able to tell?

Sometimes. On plain backgrounds the fill is usually hard to spot; on detailed backgrounds you may see a soft or repeated patch. Compare it with the original before sharing.

Using the tools needs credits or a plan: see pricing. The rules for what you may edit are in the Acceptable Use Policy.
